Title: Pinnae for Sound Localization by Robots

Abstract:
Animals are said to utilize pinnae, or external ears, for sound
localization by encoding the sound direction in frequency domain cues.

Taking this fact into account, authors proposed a robot using two
microphones with pinnae to estimate the elevation angle of the sound
source by utilizing active head motion, which is the difference from the
conventional signal processing scheme.

In this seminar, a new pinna device which is able to deform its shape
actively will be also shown.
