Launching new TUDμNet site at TIZ

Dear all,

we are glad to announce the launch of the second TUDμNet site. Spanning a surface of ~180 square meters, the deployment at TIZ includes 60 TelosB sensor nodes equipped with the standard SHT11 sensors (light, humidity, temperature).

Similarly to other deployments, all nodes are mounted on the ceiling of the various areas of the GKmM lab. While 3 of these are typical office spaces, the largest is a disaster scenario according to RoboCup Rescue's urban search and rescue guidelines. This will allow a more realistic evaluation of the integration of sensor networks with mobile robots.

In the next days we will be running some statistics to evaluate the performance of the testbed services (reprogramming and data logging), but users can already go ahead and begin using the new zone when scheduling a job.

Kristof and I would like to thank all people involved in the realisation of this deployment, which include Majid (conception), Thorsten (design of power lines for gas sensors), Johannes (networking), Iliya (deployment and setup) and other students (Ahmed and Mohamed), and the GK in general for the support in building this site.

A short clip showcasing the deployment can be found in YouTube ("https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNdFzyJc4d4")

Best regards,

Pablo Guerrero, Kristof Van Laerhoven
