Selected Approaches to Cope with Big Sensing Data

Dear GKmM members,

for the lab session tomorrow, the following software packages should be installed on your laptop:

Python, NumPy, matplotlib, CVXOPT

Linux users, only need to search for CVXOPT and matplotlib in their package manager and install them. All dependencies will be resolved automatically.

Windows users can download Python(x,y) that is bundle of all scientific packages for python: http://code.google.com/p/pythonxy/
During installation of Python(x,y), make sure that cvxopt is selected to be installed as well.

Mac users may find the binary packages from the following sources:
Python: http://www.python.org/download/
NumPy: http://sourceforge.net/projects/numpy/files/NumPy/1.6.2/
matplotlib: https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/downloads
CVXOPT: http://abel.ee.ucla.edu/src/mac-binaries/

I also recommend to install Spyder, a more convenient development environment for scientific programming in Python. It is included in Python(x,y) for Windows and can be also easily installed using your Linux package manager. Mac users can find binary packages here: http://code.google.com/p/spyderlib/downloads/list
